Anticipation, the heart of Christmas … conversations with myself and my Friend

December 15, 2011

… conversations with myself and my Friend

So, as I talk this week with my Friend, who is the Reason for the Season, I will pray:

I need your forgiveness for my lack of anticipation.

Thank you for purchasing my complete forgiveness by Your death on the cross.

Remind me often of your past provisions, your fulfilled promises.

Help my unbelief turn into confidence.

Turn my heart to truth, to trust.

Fill my days wilth an attitude of anticipation.

Cause me to be open to the unexpected.

Give me confidence that the unknown will be beneficial because it comes from Your gracious hand.

Help me to believe that the yet unopened gifts will be good.

And as I talk with other friends, we will remind one another:

Because of the Character of God, we have every reason to see the “unknowns” of life just as we see unwrapped Christmas presents.

I wait for the Lord, my soul waits, and in His word I put my hope. My soul waits for the Lord more than watchmen wait for the morning, more than watchmen wait for the morning. Ps 130:5-6
