The point of the grand story

Someone pointed out to me that the entire human story is written in a repetitive cycle:  Creation, Fall, Redemption, Consummation. Over and over again the parts of the narrative are repeated to reveal the love of our Creator God. The key to living well – living fully and at peace – is to recognize the parts of the meta narrative in our present chapters.

Is it a time of creation? New things? Change? Fresh starts? Birth of dreams or relationships or responsibilities?

Is it a time of brokenness? Hardship? Challenge? Loss? Death of dreams or relationships or responsibilities?

Is it a time of healing? Renewal? Restoration? Recovery? Rebirth of dreams or relationships or responsibilities?

Is it a time of culmination? Closure? Celebration? Conclusion? Finishing the race? Completion of dreams or relationships or responsibilities?

No matter what is playing out in our story right now, we can know this: God is on the move – in every part of the story. In every part of our story.

So, those of us who say we believe in His sovereign rule, those of us who say there is  no doubt that He is orchestrating everything, those of us who say there is nothing that separates us from His love and care …. Are we living that out? Living well, living fully, living at peace in this point of the story He is unfolding?

Are we truly people of faith who are able to recognize His hand in this place in the grand story?

Are we confident of His goodness in it all, confident that He is working for our good in it all?

Do we remember that He has purposed ALL of this so that we will know that He is our God and we are His people?

Over and over He is sending the same message:

               He is good.

               We are loved.

               He is God.

               We are His.

“Fear not, for I have redeemed you; I have called you by name, you are mine.” Isaiah 43:1

“He who did not spare his own Son but gave him up for us all, how will he not also with him graciously give us all things?”  Romans 8:32
