Remember, Request, Rejoice, Release: Psalm 9

Remember:  who God is… and, who I am

The Lord reigns forever; He has established His throne for judgement. He will judge the world in righteousness; He will govern the people with justice.  The Lord is a refuge for the oppressed, a stronghold in times of trouble. Psalm 9: 7-9

Request

I respond to this truth by asking You, Lord, to give me a heart that acknowledges You as the reigning Sovereign over my life and my world. Remove my resistance to Your plans and Your pace. Bring me to a strong faith in Your decisions as You judge the world, as You govern the people in it. Cause me to seek shelter in You as my refuge, my stronghold rather than relying on anything or anyone in this world to shield or support me. Keep me aware that I am not sufficient, but that you are All Sufficient. Help me, as I walk through this day to demonstrate that I truly believe these things to be true:

You reign,

Your throne is established,

You judge in righteousness,

You govern all people,

You are a refuge,

You are a stronghold.

Rejoice

I will praise you, O Lord, with all my heart I will tell of all your wonders. I will be glad and rejoice in you; I will sing praise to your name, O Most High. Psalm 9:1-2

Release

Those who know your name will trust in you, for you, Lord, have never forsaken those who seek you. Psalm 9:10

There are specific things that are not a reflection of Heaven and I know that these things have Your attention. The Word reveals that these things are not in harmony with who You are. So, I’m coming to talk with You about them so that they will not burden me or trouble me. I need to release them from my feeble attempts to fix them. Intervene in my heart so that these circumstances do not cause me to turn my attitudes toward doubt, my affections toward temporary solutions, or my attention away from You. Bring me to a place of trust, for You have never forsaken those who seek You.
